Has ai gone too far?

Many people fear the future of our world because of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and its exponential growth.  AI has come to the point that it’s unpredictable of what can happen and what the capabilities are.  Many people have been affected by AI due to many reasons. One of the largest reasons with AI continuing to grow would be a fraud problem like; cloning voices, fake pictures of people, deep faking peoples faces and etcetera. Another major problem is AI will be the death of creativity.

A major problem with AI is the problem of fraud since it can be harmful when used to make a cloned voice and use it to scam people. A New York Post’s news report published in July 17, 2025 by Caitlin McCormack describes an incident about how a woman named Sharon Brightwell was scammed over the phone and lost $15,000 because someone used a deep fake(a deep fake is a video or an image of persons face, voice, and or voice that is altered to look/sound like someone else usually used to spread misinformation or maliciously.) of her daughter’s voice. The cloned voice was of her daughter crying and panicking saying that she got into a car accident hitting a pregnant lady, and saying that a man who claimed to be an attorney asked for $15k. Because Sharon believed it was real and was worried she gave the money to the supposed attorney to which she basically lost all of that money. In the article it states that Sharon says “‘There is nobody that could convince me that it wasn’t her. I know my daughter’s cry. Even though she’s an adult, I know her cry,’”. This shows how someone takes your voice using it in a bad way to potentially deceive or manipulate people you know causing harm and spread misinformation. The amount of outcomes, different scenarios are practically endless, it’s hard to differentiate between AI, and real life. Just imagine how advanced artificial intelligence can get and how hard it’ll become to tell what’s fake or not in the future.

The problem with AI is the amount of people’s lives that can and will change. AI will impact art, movies, and even videogames. AI in the film industry is being used by many companies like disney and amazon prime. Some of these companies have started taking steps to incorporate AI into their films. For example Amazon Prime recently received a lot of backlash for using AI to Dub(translating and replacing original audio language.)multiple languages using their “AI beta”. But instead of praise they received lots of hate  because the voices sounded emotionless and even voice actor Daman Mills called the AI-generated dub voices for Banana Fish a “massive insult to us as performers.” In a post on X. This backlash resulted in amazon prime having to remove this feature. If Amazon prime continues to work on AI dub many questions “will this affect the future of voice acting”. With amazon using AI for dubbing of shows Disney to is using AI. A recent 3 year license agreement with OpenAI and The Walt Disney company gives OpenAI permission to use disney, marvel, starwars, and pixar characters for AI short social videos. The Walt Disney company and Amazon prime using AI is just one step. Who knows how much more AI will be used in the future of the film industry.

AI art has also become a big worry since many people wonder if this is the end of creativity. AI can generate art by a simple prompt and this poses a problem since AI is basically unoriginal and it takes no skill or any effort into making. Anyone can type up a prompt using Ai and call it art. The problem is art is a way of self expressions and one’s self beliefs. That’s why many people dislike the idea of AI art since it lacks creativity and a human to make. But AI art is even going as far as to make itself into games. Many creators are using AI game covers and it has become a big problem especially on the playstation store with the many AI slop games that are basically cash grabs that have no effort put into them. This is an example of some of the AI slop being put onto the playstation store.

AI art has a big effect on not just the art industry but also the gaming world with many people using AI to have an image created instead of working on art themselves. The lack of creativity and laziness this brings into people is just outrageous. AI art will be the death of creativity with many people using it for advertisements, game covers, and movies.

We talked about AI generated images ruining creativity but AI can also ruin one’s life. Recently it’s become more of a problem that people will use AI for malicious intent and as AI grows this problem will continue to worsen harming more people. There have been cases of an AI being used to create generated images of a person. These images can be used in such a way that can ruin somebody’s life by impersonating, humiliating, and blackmailing them. It has become so difficult to tell if an image is fake. An example of a persons life being ruined is Elijah Heacock a 16-year -old boy who committed suicide back in February 28, 2025 . A stranger online sent the 16-year-old explicit AI generated images of the victim and threatened to release them if he didn’t pay $3,000. This heartbreaking example just further proves that AI is only causing harm even going as far to be used to exploit and manipulate people.

There has been a recent use of AI for memes but sometimes people will take it too far, making fun at dead people or generating fake videos of people as a joke. An example of AI memes gone too far can be the Kirkified images. Charlie Kirk a political activist who was recently killed on September 10th of 2025 has had his face become a meme on the internet. Many people hated and disliked Mr. Kirk because of his harsh political views and debates. Because people disliked him they would add his face on to other peoples face making them look like Charlie Kirk as a joke to poke fun at him. This is just outright disrespectful to the family of Charlie Kirk and AI shouldn’t be used for this.

The capabilities of AI are endless, leaving fear in many people. AI has gone too far and it’s ruining many things in this world. It’s become a big safety issue and a big concern because AI has not just hurt people but it is striping humans from their creativity.
