Huawei Leaps Over Apple

Apple gets a taste of third place as Huawei enjoys its sweet victory at second. Research confirms that Apple has shipped about 41.3 million phones for a 0.7 percent growth in a comparable year-ago period.

Meanwhile, Huawei shipped about 54.2 million phones, registering a 40.9 increase on year growth. Huawei expects to ship 200 million phones by the end of the year. Of course, Samsung is still number 1 in the world thanks to their Galaxy line-up.

Analysts said Huawei was adding more top-end features into its smartphones. An example is their P20 Pro phone which was added with three cameras. The P20 Pro is supposed to compete with Apple’s iPhone X and Samsung’s Galaxy S9.

Huawei’s P20 line-up is selling really well in Europe and Asia but, sadly it is not available in the U.S. through any carrier as AT&T and Verizon called off the partnership. The P20 can still be purchased through Best Buy, Walmart, and Huawei’s direct sales website. Earlier this year, according to CNBC “Top U.S. intelligence officials said they would not advise Americans to use products from Huawei, implying that it may have ties to the

Chinese government that posed cybersecurity risks to the United States”. Huawei responds by saying that they don’t pose as much of a security risk like any other tech company.
