Justin Bieber had left the spotlight in 2013 but recently he became public again with the release of his new show on YouTube called “Seasons”.
Bieber’s new series “Seasons” had been announced for many months before the year 2020 began. The intensity of the premiere had Bieber’s fans in suspense but that all ended on Monday, January 27, 2020, at noon because that is when the series officially premiered on YouTube. The series began with the release of four episodes that are each about ten minutes long. Although, the episodes are extremely short Bieber was able to reveal plenty of his experiences over the years since 2013.
The series is a YouTube original which only allows the public to watch the first episode, leaving the other 3 blocked from the public and only available to premium users. This being said, the first episode of the series is called “Leaving the spotlight” which practically focuses on Bieber’s life and how he began writing music again after his horrible downfall with himself. Bieber’s downfall officially occurred after the release of his ‘Purpose’ album and the tour that he went on after he released the album. His ‘Purpose’ album was successful since he made number one on the Billboard 200. The episode consists of Bieber, his wife Hailey, his manager Scooter Braun, Braun’s general manager Alison Kaye and co-founder of Drew House, Ryan Good, being interviewed and them talking about the process that Justin went through to heal emotionally and spiritually. Even since his Purpose album, Bieber was trying to heal which is why he felt accomplished. Bieber has said in the past that he named his album Purpose because at some point he felt like he had lost his own purpose but he was able to eventually find it again.
Moreover, the series also teased about a new album being released soon. The album is named “Changes” and Bieber himself has confirmed that the release is going to be on February 14, 2020. Justin Bieber’s new album will refer to the new head space he is in today and the changes he has gone through since his downfall in 2013. Ever since his downfall, Bieber himself has said that people have accused him of doing strong drugs due to the way he has appeared but little did the public know that Bieber had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Throughout the years, Bieber has had to face many rumors that have only hurt his reputation and the way he is looked at by the public. Everything that has happened over the years has affected his creative process and allowed him to rise again and be able to get out of the dark space he was in. In addition to Bieber being in the right head space, he always had the complete support of his wife Hailey Bieber. His wife was really supportive and involved in the process of his album.
Throughout the years, Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun would be involved in the process of his albums but with the new album “Changes”, Scooter wasn’t as involved as in the other albums. Everyone on Justin’s team knows that he has a process when it comes to writing music. Bieber’s process is to start experimenting for a period of 6 months before one song is discussed by Bieber’s team. Bieber really did rise and go through his problems with himself and is now independent and “fully accountable” for the choices made about the album, according to Josh Godwin, his longtime producer.
Valentine’s day has arrived and “Changes” has been released. The album 17 seventeen songs for a total of 51 minutes of listening. “Changes” features artists such as Quavo, Post Malone, Lil Dicky, Travis Scott, and others. This album is a tribute to Bieber’s wife, Hailey, and to his faith, which he found healing from. “Changes” marks the end of Justin Bieber’s era of a brash, rebellious punk towards a more mature and settled life. We’ll have to wait and see how this new era of Justin Bieber is received by fans and the success that follows.
