Ariana Grande is back in the spotlight with her latest album, Positions.
The album was released on October 30, 2020, by Republic Records. Grande wrote this album during quarantine with her new boyfriend, estate agent, Dalton Gomez. Her two previous albums, “Sweetener,” (2018) written after the Manchester Arena Bombing and “Thank U, Next,” (2019) written after the death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, and breakup with then ex-fiance Pete Davidson, was written of her publicized pain in the media. Her album, Positions, focuses on her moving on to the next chapter of her life.
Ariana has collaborated with three artists on her album, The Weeknd on “off the table,” Doja Cat on “motive,” and Ty Dolla $ign on “safety net.” In the song, “off the table,” Grande reminisces her relationship with Mac and questions if she’s ready to move on with The Weeknd, who has taken on the role of a new partner who’s willing to wait for her.

Her first single, “positions,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week it released. In the music video, Grande is seen as a president in the White House, with assistance from a diverse cabinet. This debut extends her record for the most #1 debuts, being her 5th, according to Billboard Chart.
The album’s songs have charted big on streaming platforms, on Spotify’s United States Top 50 songs and Apple Music’s Top 100: Global & United States songs.
Critics have praised her album, with Rolling Stone rating the album 3.5 stars and commenting, ¨Positions is minor growth, major strength and a solid step forward in the right direction for one of popś most exciting stars.¨
