Released more than a month ago on February 13th, conversations have stirred about the trailer of Jordan Peele’s new film, produced by Universal Studios, Nope. It has gathered more than twenty million views but gives no explanation as to what it is about. The trailer is ambiguous, as no clear plot can be indicated for the movie. From what has been understood, it seems to concern horse trainers experiencing a bizarre event related to the sky. Many speculate on what it might be. Several articles describe theories, with the theme of aliens among them. An article from Screen Rant states that it could be related to a societal issue, as well as not involving aliens, but with angels or something similar in divinity.

None of the theories have been confirmed and might not be until the release of the film.

Regardless, people have expressed excitement for the film based on the other films Peele has produced in the past. Adrienne Tyler of Screen Rant has regarded Peele as, “…one of the best writers and directors of the genre…” His first horror film, Get Out, released in 2017, had won Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars in 2018. Along with this award were accolades for Best Director (2018 Film Independent), Actor in a leading role, received by Daniel Kaluuya (2018 Academy Awards), and Best Sci-fi/Horror Movie (2018 Critics’ Choice).

After this, his second film, Us, was released in 2019. Although it did receive the same number of awards, the popularity of the film was monumental. From these releases, Peele has formed a great reputation in the genre of horror, making fans excited for what is to be released later this year.

Starring in this film is Keke Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya, and Steven Yeun, all known for specific roles, especially in horror, across different mediums. Nope is set to be released on July 22, 2022.
