Many of your favorite celebrities gathered around for the special ceremony. On September 12, 2022, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for the 2022 Emmy Awards. It was the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. The Emmys is an award ceremony that recognizes people that contribute to the International and American television industry.
On Monday, Emmy award-winning actress Zendaya took home her second Emmy, for her performance in the Euphoria drama series. For portraying the character “Rue,” Zendaya became the youngest Lead Actress in that category. While making history by becoming the youngest Lead Actress in a drama series to win an Emmy.
“I feel that Zendaya deserves that Emmy because coming from Disney Channel to play a big and serious role in “Euphoria” is a big difference and a big accomplishment for her,” stated Ingrid Gonzalez, Senior.
Zendaya has played in various movies leading up to her role in “Euphoria,” such as the Marvel movies: Spider-Man No Way Home, Spider-Man Homecoming, and Spider-Man Far From Home. Apart from Marvel movies, she has also played in Dune, Zapped, The Greatest Showman, and some Disney Channel show such as Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover.
On the other hand, Lizzo won the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Competition Program” for her Amazon series, “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.”
“I think it is good Lizzo won that Emmy for her show because it is about empowering women who are not always seen as beautiful or are not the beauty standard. By giving her that Emmy they are acknowledging her efforts and awarding her for them,” stated Ellen Monay, Senior.
Many people look up to Lizzo for confidence and reassurance to remind themselves that people are beautiful the way they are, regardless of the “beauty standards.”
In addition, Quinta Brunson won her first Emmy award for “Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series” for “Abbott Elementary.” While accepting her award, Jimmy Kimmel did a monologue with Arnett to present the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series category. Many people took their monologue as rude and unprofessional towards Bruson and her special moment.
“I saw this as very disrespectful because Jimmy Kimmel is ruining Brunson’s moment and it was not the right time for Jimmy Kimmel to do his monologue especially when Brunson tried to make light of the situation,” stated Ashely Martinez, Senior.
Jimmy Kimmel is an actor, writer, producer, American television host, and comedian. A comedian that likes to take his monologues/jokes everywhere he goes.
While at the Emmys, many amazing people were recognized and nominated for having such amazing performances in TV series, acting, directing, producing, writing, etc. The Emmys are to recognize people with the amazing talents they bring to the cinema.
“I love watching movies or TV series and seeing those people that make great movies be recognized. I am excited to see who will win in the 2023 Emmy Awards,” stated Ashely Martinez, Senior.
