First (and Only) Presidential Debate between Kamala and Trump, so what happened?

Recent controversy behind ABC’s hosting the presidential debate, questions of unfairness, earpieces, and the former president’s 32 fact checks.

Voters are in between with close polls reports between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, as they just finished their first presidential debate on September 10th — centered around critical topics like inflation, immigration, healthcare, war between Ukraine or Paliestians.

Many speculations from the right-wing party and former president surrounding the debate leaves voters panicked amongst rumors about Kamala’s “earpiece”, or ABC news giving Kamala Harris the questions beforehand. Although the jewelry in side-to-side comparison appears to be Tiffany & Co. earrings. Another concern is surrounding Kamala’s overtly preparedness in contrast to the former president, according to CNN.

In a flash people’s poll in swing state Pennsylvania, Philadelphia voters reported, “63% to 37%” in favor of Harris better performing, while prior “the same voters were evenly split on which candidate would perform more strongly.” The host network denied any allegations, furthering by stating the opponents weren’t allowed any notes or advisors to help prepare during commercial breaks.

Shortly after the presidential debate it only seemed appropriate to ask a government teacher about the upcoming elections.

One of our new magnet teachers, Ms.Lopez stated, “It almost appears as though she was prepared even though it was made clear that both candidates had not received the questions ahead of time. Trump’s responses were unfocused and disorganized as if he had not prepared for the debate at all.”

Many suspect this can be explained by the topics being core differences in policy that make or break campaigns, which mean they will 100% be talked about.

Like many, Ms.Lopez speaks on a core criticism of Harris, “Personally, I do not like either of the candidates. On the one hand Harris deliberately lied about Biden’s ability to perform his duties and she has never truly owned what she has accomplished as VP, it makes it seem like she has worked to remain neutral. Only recently has she spoken out more clearly on what she stands for: women’s rights, approach to dealing with inflation, and helping small businesses.”

Although none of these numbers and polls dedicate the future president, only providing current views on the presidential candidates. There are many who are yet to vote, this debate highlights each opponents core issues whether strong border control or new healthcare reform.

Various people’s polls show Trump is heavily trusted with strong border enforcement, while Kamila is showing strengths in healthcare reform. The magnet coordinator, Mr. Carcamo commented, “I think in general, Trump is more reliable even though he said Mexico would pay for it, they still built it and it’s his main emphasis… immigration wasn’t an emphasis for Kamala.. His winning traits are border control and not taxing tips.”

But despite strong policies on both sides, there has been new criticism of candidates changing their policies. For example, both Republicans and Democrats have criticized Kamala’s seemingly shift on fracking, now emphasizing green energy prior to phasing out fracking compared to flat out banning it.

But many people believe that shifting isn’t inherently bad.

“If you do research and additional research, changing your mind isn’t a bad thing. It’s only bad if there is no consistency in it,” Mr.Carcamo stated.

Although inconsistent research can be detrimental to this upcoming election, polls are slowing and can be accounted for in multiple pauses in candidates being fact-checked.

This only highlights the importance of indepth research for both candidates, as well as for the many pre-registered and future voters at Huntington Park High School. Each instance of pause in presidential debates whether its spread of misinformation, core values or flexible policies can all determine the next president.

With new heated tension, voters are eager as Kamala asked for a second debate soon after finishing, while Trump believes the request affirms his success and is yet to schedule another debate. The next debate is left up in the air, despite Fox News offering to host it.
