An Enchanting Night in the city of Stars: Homecoming 2024

This year’s homecoming dance captured the elegance and charm of Hollywood with the theme of “La La Land: City of Stars.” Inspired by the romance of the popular movie “La La Land”, the event took place on Friday, October 25th, at Belgrave Court, which was transformed into a beautiful setting. Twinkling lights and decorations recreated iconic scenes from the film, with a color scheme that added to the dreamy, star-studded atmosphere.

“What made us choose this theme was that we loved the colors, and we had a vision, so we decided to go with it,” said ASB Vice President, Pascual Oliver.

In the lead-up to homecoming, ASB worked hard to build excitement with various lunch events, spirit week activities, and the presentation of the homecoming court. At the homecoming football game, the school’s clubs came together for a spirited parade, adding to the hype around this year’s dance.

ASB sold tickets for $20, with a special $5 discount for students with fewer than two absences, encouraging consistent attendance. Students could purchase tickets from any ASB member or at Belgrave Court during lunch, making it easy for everyone to purchase.

Despite a few critiques regarding the date and theme, ASB stood by their choices.

“Unfortunately, we came to realize we can’t please everyone,” Oliver noted, “but we’re excited about the positive response, and ticket sales are going strong.”

The ASB homecoming committee, led by ASB President Daphne Hernandez and co-lead Pascual Oliver, along with members Oscar Aguilar, Jessica Aguilar, Brianna Romero, and Angel Ruiz spent nearly a month and a half planning every detail. Their hard work created an event that captured the spirit of La La Land and left everyone with great memories of a night spent under the stars.

The event itself was semi-formal, featuring a DJ and even a robot, adding unique elements to the atmosphere. Students danced, laughed, and enjoyed the City of Stars, surrounded by friends and the glow of starry decorations.

“I had a fun time that night. I think that seeing the decorations and robot brought it all together.” says sophomore, Kenny Alvarado.
