Deadly Fires and What Happens After?

On January 7th, 2025 a massive fire disaster happened in Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, Lidia, and Kenneth in Southern California.

During the time where people typically are excited for the new years and getting a fresh start. While the new year started the insurance company’s were canceling the community’s insurance.

People were finding out about the fires through our major 2 apps that are part of most everyone’s life… TikTok and the fire app that gives updates of the progress of fires and gives evacuation warnings etc. As every trending video popped up on TikTok, the fires started popping up. Including the news as words spread around more people started finding out about the fires.

Some people thought the fires weren’t going to be as bad as they happened to be every now then the news would report how the fire was spreading quickly due to the climate change. This caused the fires to spread within minutes.

As days passed and the fires were calming people started getting furious because they were finding out their insurance was being taken away from them and how they weren’t going to get help from the insurance companies.

About 1,600 people got their insurance cancelled stated by State Farm in July. The California Department of Insurance Michael Soller reported to CBS money watch.

According to NBC, at least 29 elderly people died. Many died due to old age, disabilities while being home alone, denial, and not wanting to leave their home because of how sentimental their house meant to them with all of the memories they’ve created throughout the years with family and friends.

A community on the Eaton side reported on the news, they didn’t receive an evacuation alert on time before the fires reached them. This led to many deaths and the community were really upset about this.

The Los Angeles district has announced that they got a false evacuation alert and they freaked out and got worried that they started packing up their stuff so that they could evacuate on Thursday January 9th, 2025 .

About 10 minutes passed by and the district was sent another alert saying it was false alert and to not listen to it, that they meant to send it to another community in the area of Los Angeles.

Victor Shaw was one of the people who passed. He was 66 years old, he tried to fight the fire by watering the fire down around their house as much as he could but the fire was too much.

“The issue isn’t just local. “This is predicted to cascade into plunging property values in communities where insurance becomes impossible to find or prohibitively expensive — a collapse in property values with the potential to trigger a full-scale financial crisis similar to what occurred in 2008,” the report stressed.” reported by NBC news.
