Netflix released a documentary titled American Murder: Gabby Petito, based on the gruesome passing of the 22-year-old by her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie. After gathering all the information throughout the case, the three episode long series explains the last days that Gabby had on this Earth.
Many people had mixed thoughts about the documentary. Throughout it, there were many texts being read that added a lot to the story. This voice was created with AI. The text messages and many journal entries were read out loud by an AI voice of Gabby. According to KSL News, “Hickok believes that voice cloning could offer potential benefits for families, such as creating “preexisting arrangements to use voice as a remembrance after a family member passes away.”
However, a lot of people argue that it’s disrespectful to recreate her voice, especially since it’s a documentary talking about her murder.
The documentary also brought up new theories about the Laundrie family. The series went into detail on the potential involvement of Brian’s parents. Their response to police and other questions with Brian were very suspicious. You would think that if they wanted to prove his innocence in the situation regarding a murder, they would at least answer fairly.
In fact, Brian wasn’t being her murderer wasn’t even in the question yet, so to answer the door to the police and immediately say that they have an attorney is odd.
With the new documentary coming out, many new theories are coming to light. After the body of Gabby was found, Brian’s was also found in an apparent suicide. Though, many believe that Brian is not dead after all and is in hiding.
There is recent video footage of the backyard of the Laundrie home of the two parents peeking into a garden, yet not gardening. Chantel Chavez on tiktok says, “Yeah despite what I can’t see. It is weird to escort your wife, watch over her and wife isn’t gardening.”
The couple seems to be looking down at a hole in the garden and speaking, though once they see the drone, they go back inside.
Despite the police finding his body with his things, many still believe that it wasn’t really him.
Many people have also said that the circumstances in which they have been found are a sign of Mother Nature and her power. Petito was found laying down and almost looking like she was sleeping, untouched by all the wilderness around her.
Laundrie was decomposed, and found with just bones and teeth and a half-written note.
People are claiming that it’s his punishment, while others are more practical in the sense that it was all due to the climate and conditions of where they were left.
Even then, a young girl’s life was stolen. She was taken far too soon from her family, from her friends, and from the adventures she wanted to take.
Gabby Petitio only uploaded one video onto her youtube channel, but since then it has gained over 11 million views.
