Jeffrey Epstein is a name everyone should know and be aware of. Epstein is a very well-known figure in the political space, and not for many positive reasons. He is known for being one of the most well-known child sex offenders with an entire operation on his island. I’ve noticed that many politicians around the world seem nervous even to mention his name, and I believe this could tell us everything about where they stand.
It’s been almost half a year since the promise of the release of these files yet there has been nothing released. I am frustrated that our president continues to act as if these files never existed, and makes nonsensical lies on PBS news saying, “…they are a Democratic hoax that will never end.” Saying this as a rebuttal to keep the media calm and make himself less guilty. These loops of logic do not add up, he says one thing but means another. Along with the fact that his administration is contradicting his own words.
For instance, Pam Bondi, who alluded to the files “sitting on my desk,” and yet Trump keeps denying it or even brushing it off as if it wasn’t one of the largest sex trafficking and human trafficking schemes ever.
These files could unearth long-hidden secrets in the political world, exposing those who are truly despicable. Trump is reluctant to release them for a reason: he and others in the government likely have high-profile allies named in those files. Backing up this idea is Epstein’s birthday book, in which Trump wrote, “Happy Birthday and may every day be another wonderful secret.” This is disturbing, especially since these words are on top of a drawing of a young woman’s body with Trump’s signature to confirm the authenticity of this writing. His wording is strange, given the history he has with groping women covered by NPR, a news outlet.
This makes his relationship with Epstein seem distasteful. The fact that Trump is our current president shocks me, given his past actions that could land anyone else on sexual assault charges, and all this evidence should lead to an investigation, yet all is silent. This just exposes how our government will not take action against those in power and money, displaying corruption in plain sight.
What really infuriates me is that Congress had the opportunity to release these files. Yet they voted no on it, and I can not help but wonder, why on earth would they not release these files that would be able to incriminate so many disgusting people? Yet, they answered that whatever they released to the public would be too disturbing. Then, if that is the case, why not redact it as much as possible, given that the government has released information before that was heavily redacted for public view? An example is the most recent California police misconduct records, where they redacted personal information about sexual assault and domestic violence victims.
This just proves that this is not just about two political parties but the government as a whole, because these files were in the hands of the Biden Administration, which could prove how corrupt both these parties really were from the very beginning. Signifying that no matter whose side you take, both parties at the end of the day are as guilty.
The government has proven time and again that when it comes to being transparent, it will not unless the people keep them accountable. The release of the Epstein files will be a major leap into trusting the government again, showing that they are fair when it comes to people with wealth and power. Being able to hold everyone accountable who goes against the law. We, as the people, must not let Epstein’s name fade away; we must use it as leverage to make the government great again.
