Nicki Minaj has sold her culture for approval. Nicki used to be a staple for immigrant empowerment and used her platform to hate on the racist Trump administration. However she changed her political views and now praises the administration she once criticized, she is a sellout to her own culture and people. Minaj even used her music to talk against the whole deportation issues that were going on during the time in one of her songs “Black Barbies” “island girl, Donald Trump want me go home… now I’m prayin’ all my foreigners don’t get deported”.
But is now shaking hands with the man that was taking her people away from their families.
Minaj criticized the Trump administration in a post she made 7 years ago. In a post, the rapper from Trinidad and Tobago stated that the Trump administration is “So scary… please stop this.” Fans loved that Nicki was speaking up for her people during these hard times. However this would all change in late December of 2025, as Minaj went to Turning Point USA and called Trump a “Handsome, dashing president.” and in full support of Trump due to the press and people “bullying” him too much.

Minaj’s fanbase(Barbs) were in disbelief and even left feeling betrayed, as many of her fans (Mainly Woman and LGBTQ+) went on tiktok showing them burning merchandise of the female rapper they once looked up to. Nicki was quick to respond to this backlash at an event with Trump, and doubled down on her previous statement as she states that the hate from her fans is doing nothing to her and only fueling her with more motivation to go and support Donald Trump.
But Nicki is nothing but a hypocrite, as her and comedic actor and talk show host Trevor Noah were throwing shots at one another. It started when Trevor hosted the Grammys and made a joke about Nicki’s relation with Trump, “ She (Nicki) is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues… [Mimicking Trump] “ Actually Nicki I have the biggest a**, I have it. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me” Nicki took offense to Noah’s comment and proceeded to take things onto social media (X/Twitter) saying,” Trevor refuses to come out the closet when everyone in the industry knows his boyfriend… allegedly”. Many of Nicki’s fans of the LGBTQ+ community took offense to this as it is a wrong thing to do when outing someone out for their sexuality preferences. Another situation that happened that made the fans turn against Nicki, as she is still protecting her husband and brother who were both convicted of rape. Some fans speculate that she is only choosing Trump’s side to have them both pardon just in case. It is a shame that Nicki switched up as she used to stand for immigrants and the LGBTQ+ community, but the approval and the spotlight was obviously more important to her and enough to make Nicki Switch Up.
